Last time I read Moreta I realized something that passed me by on previous readings.  When Moreta (and the gang) jump ahead in time to collect needlethorn, she gets very light-headed and dizzy.  I used to always think this was just due to going between times, but a much more logical explanation has struck me.
In the future into which Moreta jumps, there is no Orlith (not because Orlith didn't come with, but because she dies before this time).  Moreta is cut off from Orlith's mind, effectively rendering her dragonless; she experiences the typical disorientation and loss felt by other dragonless people.
I'm impressed that Anne remembered that Moreta should react this way--since I didn't think of it the first ?? times I read the book!
