Sariel's Guide to the Pern Web Ring

Let's face it.  A lot of the sites which belong to the Pern Web Ring aren't of interest to the average Pern fan.  They consist of a few links, or artwork (usually illegally posted) which can be found elsewhere, or descriptions of someone's fictional Pern persona that is played on one of the Pern MU*s or fanfic Weyrs.
And the descriptions posted by the site owner's in the ring index often don't give a clear description of the site.
So I've decided to comb though all these sites for you and write my own descriptions.
If I have maligned your site and offended you, I apologize.  It is not my intent to directly criticize anyone's site;  I'm trying to provide a useful service to others who may not want to wander around the whole Pern Ring themselves in order to find sites that interest them.

Utoxin has finally cleaned up the Pern Web Ring, thanks to a new automated checking tool that webring.org made.  So this guide is now outdated - most of the sites I complain about not existing have been removed from the ring, and in some cases new ones are in their places in the ring structure.  I don't currently have time to update this guide, and thought about deleting it completely but for now I'm leaving it in place as it still has some value in describing the sites that are still in the ring.

I don't always immediately recognize  MU*s from fanfic writing clubs, so my use of the terms may be imprecise.

This list is
organized by site number,
as opposed to the order sites are found in the ring.
It's much easier to keep track of what I've visited this way,
as new sites pop up in strange places and not necessarily with higher site #s.

's are awarded as I see fit.
mark home sites of fanfic clubs or MU*s
mark sites that just describe the personas someone plays
mark sites under (reasonably visible) construction
(If it says it's in progress, but nothing's been added for a year, it doesn't count!)
mark sites that offer little beyond links or are otherwise virtually worthless
mark sites that don't exist (ie they return 404 errors)
mark sites that break the webring
(i.e. I couldn't find the ring link anywhere or it didn't work)
